I am currently coding for a pain management provider in Maryland and wanted to ask for clarification or if anyone has any documentation or resources. I have a charge that a CRNP saw the patient and signed off on the note but the office dropped the claim with the MD as rendering and Supervising. This is not a medicare patient. I wanted to suggest to the office that the CRNP would have to be the rendering and supervising for the office visit. Can someone please direct me with any information that i can show supports this. Thank you

Hi there, you have to look at the patient's plan first to see whether it has a policy that is similar or identical to Medicare's incident-to rules. If not, or the visit didn't meet the plan's requirements, then the visit would be under the NP's name.
