In my group the providers and the coding department are going back and forth on the diagnosis/management portion of MDM. Any opinions would be great.

For issues such as sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, etc that do require a RX given would you count this as '1 self limited' or '3 new problem no additional work up'. As the RX is given and no follow up or other tests are ordered, patient just advised to return as needed.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

if the symptoms are new episodes, it would be 'patient with a new problem'. if these are chronic and there is acute exacerbation, again it would be 'patient with a new problem'. Hopefully this helps
