There is a patient that had LMBB in 2019 and due to Covid, the RFA was canceled. She is now ready to move forward with RFA , but the surgery center we work with is refusing to schedule stating patient has to redo the MBB. I know that MBB does not have to be repeated if patient had an RFA done 3+ years prior and is requesting RFA to be repeated. But in this case, patient was never able to get RFA done, provider documentation shows that the source of pain has not changed. Does anyone know if it is mandatory to repeat MBB or if patient can move forward with RFA? Thank you!

Hi there,
I can't find a policy with that requirement. It might be helpful to ask the center what they based the policy on.
