Our pediatric surgeons often need to leave the chest open after heart surgery. At the pt's bedside, the patient has induction of general anesthesia, and then the esmarch is removed, the mediastinum is irrigated and hematoma removed.
For various reasons, the chest needs to remain open and the esmarch is replaced.
I have thought about using 35820 w/modifier 78,52 for reduced services, but am not sure about this.
Does anyone have any other suggestions on what code to use? Any help would be much appreciated.

You're on the right track

Hard to say for sure without seeing the actual procedure note, but I think you've got it.
