Hi There,
We are not contracted with medicaid and a patient came in for a few visits. We billed blue cross as primary and everything went towards deductible. We have billed the patient with no response. The patient has medicaid as secondary. I want to send this patient to collections. Is this appropriate?
Thanks

If the Blue Cross is a commercial plan, then it should be ok to send to collections. If the Blue Cross is Medicare Advantage, then I would double check to make sure they are not QMB eligible since you cannot bill a QMB patient. All in all I would double check state law since it varies by state.
