have a patient scheduled with uhc primary and medicaid secondary, we are non par with medicaid, can we bill patient secondary? Indiana Medicaid
 
I have not worked with Indiana Medicaid but I did work for Missouri Medicaid and if you were not a participating provider it was expected that the patient be turned over to a participating provider before being scheduled for an appointment. except in life/death situations. The patient is expected to schedule with a participating Medicaid provider in most areas whether they are the primary or the secondary. So we made the provider liable for the leftover balance and they could not collect from the patient.
