I just gotta know....... Am I reading this wrong?? Misunderstanding?? Has anyone else experience this with your Medicaid carrier?

Provider Enrollment and Re-credentialing Fee

Session Law 2009-451 mandated that DMA begin collecting a $100 enrollment fee from providers upon initial enrollment with the N.C. Medicaid Program and at 3-year intervals when the provider is re-credentialed. This process will begin on September 1, 2009, and will apply to applications received on or after that date.

Mediciad re-credentialling fees:

Times are tough, and Im sure they need the money- seems odd that they would do this given that many providers are leaving the medicaid rolls due to low reimbursement.

I guess I'm not surprised, but will be interesting to see how many docs decide its no longer worth it to participate.

My sentiments, exactly. It just makes me wonder if other carriers will adopt this concept. I can remember when carriers pleaded with our providers to accept their contracts. Unbelievable.......
