Hello,

Recently a question came up about medical assistants and billing. When a medical assistant does a suture removal or wound check, should we bill under the onsite provider? There has been debate since the claim doesn't go out that we can bill under the medical assistant.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Laura

I don't really understand your question - if no claim is going out, then why are you asking how you should bill? It seems like you're asking how you should bill when you're not billing.

If you're just asking how you should put the visit into your own billing system - if there are no charges and no claim, then it really doesn't matter - you can put it in however you like, or however your management wants it done in the event that they use that information for physician compensation or other tracking purposes.
