Looking for suggestions / recommendations for medical billing software for 4 doctor medical practice. The practice specialty is physical medicine & rehabilitation (physiatry) and see a large percentage of workers compensation injured patients. Their current medical billing software is being discontinued the end of this year. Also if there is any software that anyone would comment on to stay away from, it would be appreciated. Thanks!

I will say MicroMD by Henry Schein, stay away. Whoever writes this software has NEVER worked in a medical office.

Medent is what we use. It is super easy. I do remote coding and have used many systems and find Medent the easiest and great customer service.

Hello - Allscripts has a user friendly solution for small practices. Let me know if you would like additional information.

Any suggestions on an EMR system for a small mental health facility? We are currently using Salesforce and it's been a nightmare. Trying to convince the Director of Mental Health that an EMR system is necessary for optimal productivity.

Athena Health is good but I had access to everything which I don't think many people do; therefore, it makes it harder for the biller if they have limited access. You have to make sure the set up is accurate and once you get that in place then it's fairly smooth. We were very efficient and A/R was excellent! It's definitely not for everyone. Athena is quite expensive so you want to make sure that you don't switch to another system down the road after you've invested all your time setting it up.
Kareo's billing portion is a bit difficult because we had to manually post which was a nightmare and Advanced MD had the same concept (This was yrs ago, it may be way different now.). The customer service reps for Kareo were not very helpful so be prepared to have someone outside of this assist you.

eClinical and Kario are good softwares.

Our practice uses Trimed Technologies. We have 5 doctors and 3 Physician Assistants. Their EHR software is a very robust system with phone support vocally. They are a smaller company that has been in business for over 25 years. The customer service is outstanding which is probably due to them being a smaller company. I love not getting an IVR when I call. I get to talk to an actual person. Their EHR is Trimed Complete. Good luck!

Kareo now lets you post electronic eobs automatically (though if it's a secondary payment you have to do a "workaround" or else you'll end up with a patient balance that shouldn't be there) as well as manually. Customer service for Kareo continues to be a joke at best. We're in the process of dropping them and going with Meditab. Kareo had the audacity to tell me, after more than 15 years with them, we couldn't leave without talking to a "Customer Retention Specialist" first. I told them politely to go pound sand.
