Data Points for Personal Review of EKG tracing
I need advice please on the following:
Data Points in medical decision making, here's the situation:
provider orders EKG and documents personal review of tracing
Data points = 3, one point for EKG order and 2 points for EKG review
I was told the provider cannot take credit for the personal review of the EKG if he/she is also charging for the overread, this can affect the level of service
When I instruct new providers I tell them they can get EKG points for order and review but never mention coding for the overread
what do you think? I can't give credit for personal review in the above situation? I cannot find this rule in CMS
