Our provider did a circumcision on a 4 mo old patient at the recommendation of the urologist after an episode of urosepsis. Z41.2 would not be an appropriate dx code in this case, but I am having difficulty figuring out what code(s) should be used.
Someone suggested Z40.8 (Encounter for other prophylactic surgery) - would I also use the code for history of urosepsis? (I was thinking Z87.440)
As always, your expertise is greatly appreciated!

Hmmm, maybe N48.89 (other specified disorders of penis)? It's billable, but may not fall under the patient's plan as an acceptable diagnosis.

I'd probably focus on urosepsis and find something in that range. Hx of UTI seems a bit nonspecific. It also isn't a clear treatment link to a circumcision. But perhaps A41.9 for the sepsis with the n48.89 would sort of explain the situation.
