Howdy All,
I have a stupid question. I am from Texas, I went on the Trailblazer (Local Medicare web sight) to look up the LCD (local coverage determination) on
J0587 botulinum toxin type b (Myobloc) and it indicated that the LCD had been "retired". What does this mean? I have never seen this befor.

Anita,

It means the local coverage determination for that code is no longer in effect.
Maybe the service isn't being billed enough to warrant the carrier taking a closer look at it anymore.

Just curious, did you look up procedure code J0585 as well (sometimes they might combine codes into one LCD)?

Maryann,
Thank you for your help. I did not look at the other code I will do that. Thanks again.
