I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how I am supposed to bill for consultations for medicare patients since they will no longer reimburse for consult codes?

The instructions are in the transmittal on the Medicare website. Basically you will bill new or established patient for office consults and inpatient you will use an initial inpatient level (99221-99223) with no modifier. Transmittal 1875 date Dec 14,2009, CR 6740
