Medicare denial z code

Hello,
I'm new to the Gastroenterology world. I have a question. Patient comes in for a office visit (99202) and would like a screening colonoscopy due to family history. Can Z12.11, Z80.0 be coded? Thank you.

For the office visit you can use th family history code. You can use the screening Z codes only for the actual screening procedure.

It is my understanding that the office visit would be part of the colonoscopy. So therefore would not bill out the office visit. If the patient had previous polyps removed then you could bill with a primary Z09 with the Z86.010 with the office visit. Hope this helps
