I have been asked a question about how to bill for follow up for patients that have been prescribed diabetic shoes, CPAP machines, oxygen etc. One of our office managers said that Medicare requires the patient to be seen to discuss/follow up on these items after the patient receives them. She wanted to know what CPT to bill. I looked in the Medicare guidelines but I couldn't find anything. My thoughts are to bill an E/M based on time counseling/discussing use of product and any other complaints the patient may have. Any help will be appreciated. If you can direct me to the Medicare guidelines for these services that will help alot. Thanks.....
