Hi there we recently saw one of our nursing home patients here in the office so I billed out the pos as 11 for the office. They came paid and now recouped saying that when we see our NH patients in the office or they are seen in the office with in 72 hours of discharge we have to use a different pos code. Can anyone help me with this please??
Thanks,

Medicare released a transmittal on this a couple of years back. If the patient is a registered inpatient ( acute care, or, long term care). The POS is where they are registered regardless of where the service takes place. So for nursing home a 31 or 32 would be the correct POS even if the patient is brought to your office.
