Has anyone heard that Medicare is not going to reimburse total joint surgeries?
A member of our staff saw it on a list serve and we are trying to see if anyone has heard anything? I could not find anything on CMS website.

Medicare coverage

I am not sure but I think that this might refer to the text of an LCD document titled, “SURGICAL DECOMPRESSION FOR PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY”, LCD ID Number DL24716, which recommends that coverage be denied for surgical decompression of diabetic and other forms of polyneuropathy based upon a selected review of peer review articles. As you can imagine, there is no consensus on this issue.
