Should the Hospitalists who sees Psych unit patients for H&P and medical follow up be coding the psych issue the patient was admitted? It seems it is being kicked out by the medical plan to go to the mental health plan which the physician is not contracted with.
The hospitalist is coding the mental health condition along with the medical codes when they are only seeing them for a medical problem and or medical clearance because they are in the psych unit.
