I am a fairly new outpatient coder, and am struggling with understanding the concept why we do not code MI, from a stress test. Examples of statements from a NM Stress Test "LAD territory infarction with minimal peri-infarction ischemia. There is a small to medium sized anteroseptal, apical septal and apical aterior perfusion defect"
"STEMI" "NSTEMI"
"Left ventricular apical thormbus"
We are informed to code for abnormal stress test, why is this?
In addition, if any type of MI was on the order I could assign as my ADX, but not as PX it would then be again abnormal stress test.
Thank you
