Specialty Exams

I was wondering if anybody has taken the E/M or family Practice specialty exams? How were they & did you benefit from them? I am pondering taking them, but wanted to find out if its really worth it.

Thanks,

Michelle,
I have my CPC-E/M. I think it was worthwhile. Even though I work for a pediatric surgery practice, we still use E/M coding. We still have an internal audit program. Having that additional credential helps me be recognized as the E/M authority on our staff.

Keep in mind, however, that once you have a specialty credential you need an EXTRA 8 CEUs each year, that are directly related to your specialty credential. So if you're getting virtually all your CEUs from Edgeblast and Coding Edge self-tests, then you may have a hard time meeting the CEUs for the specialty credential.

Good Luck!
