If patient comes iin for an intial vist with the Dietitian with a GFR between 13-50, then returns with a GFR of either less than 13 or mor than 50 can the patient be seen and can we bill and be paid for this visit.
I have read the Medicare information regarding MNT visits, it is still unclear to me. I have asked others and have received no response.
If any one knows or can refer me to a good resource I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

Hi Renee,
When we performed them at Internal medicine, the only problems we encountered were with the individual insurance carriers as each one seemed to have their own medical policy on MNT services. If you haven't already, I would suggest going online to look at that particular insurance carriers policy which will have specific guidelines in order to bill for MNT.

Best of luck,
Lynn
