I may be over-thinking this...but why would you need KX if you have an ABN?

Lisa, I'm with you - I have seen instructions to code both - but doesn't the GA say it all? We have an ABN and can bill the patient. I hope someone has some insight into this!

I don't see both modifiers KX and ABN should go together. Modifier KX is used when following coverage criteria mentioned in the policy. If not don't use modifier KX. In that case if KX is not used means claim is going to be denied, an ABN modifier can be used.
