Does anyone have any resources on how long intraservice time needs to be to bill 99152. The code says initial 15 minutes. Is that any number of minutes up to 15 min. or is there a certain number that has to be reached.
Hi there,
There has to be at least 10 minutes of intraservice time as defined in the CPT manual. The book also contains a chart that helps calculate time.

These codes report sedation services provided by the same provider performing the primary procedure with the assistance of an independently trained health care professional to assist in monitoring the patient. Code selection is dependent upon intraservice work provided. Intraservice begins with the administration of the sedation agent and ends when the patient is moved to recovery and no longer requires face-to-face provider attendance. More than half of the next increment (eight minutes) must be carried outin order to report each additional 15-minutes of moderate sedation.
