Can someone tell me if POS 22 is the correct to bill when a patient is triaged from the ER to Observation or should we still bill with the POS 23

It would seem like to me if the patient is triaged from ER to Observation, that the correct place of service code would be Outpatient Hospital (22) unless the stay exceeds the maximum considered for Observation.

Modifier 22 vs POS 22

I agree with Robyn's answer ... but I'm confused by the title of your post and the fact that you listed it in the MODIFIER forum.
Everyone makes mistakes (I make plenty), but I just want to be sure we're really on the same page.
POS 22 and Modifier 22 are two very different things.
