Can Modifier 24 be used for office visit of ESRD patient on dialysis during month for services unrelated to ESRD or dialysis?
(Ie., DOS 11/7/14 99123-24, billed on office charge. Then 90960 after the month ends for MCP dated 11/1/14)

Hi Renee,
I do not think you need to append modifier 24 to the e&m code. Modifier 24 relates to a global period. CPT 90960 has no global and is billed 1x/month for dialysis services. If a patient is seen in the office for services other than ESRD/dialysis, you should be able to bill the appropriate e&m code with the diagnosis related to that visit.
