Hello - I have not hands-on coded surgery in a long, long time. I have 3 cases below that have been coded. Can someone look at them and tell me would you use a modifier -51?

Pancreatectomy w/ splenectomy and partial gastric wedge resection – 48140 & 43611 – would you use -51 multiple procedure?

Abdominoperineal resection and omental pedicle flap placement – 45110 & 49905 – would you use -51 for multiple procedure?

Revision of gastrojejunostomy resection of small bowel, Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy and feeding jejunostomy tube placement – 43860, 44130 – would you use -51 for multiple procedure? (44015 was used also but is add on code, no -51 used)

I have started a new job and they use -51 a lot. I'm not sure it's correct - but then again, I've not done this in a long time.

Any help? Please? thanks

Can you tell me who the Carrier is?

The 51 modifier is no longer required with Medicare. But if this is a commercial carrier, they may still want to see it.
