Wiki Modifier 79 and 20611 not allowed per CMS?

Medicare has told us that we cannot use Modifier 79 with the new CPT 20611 when it?s being billed in a post op period, even though it?s distinct from the surgery. Have you heard anything about this? It was valid with the previous code, 20610, but not this one. Is this correct? Has anyone heard of this?

I am experiencing the same issue with Florida Medicare.

I have seen this denial with Humana. The 79 was removed and was paid. I tested one prior to refiling the others.
