Wiki Modifier 93

Anyone familiar with modifier 93, we ran into some rejected claims where a provider is using modifier 93 for interpreter on office visits 99202-15. After further research, it sounds like modifier 93 is to be used only for workers comp billing codes. If anyone is familiar or has any resources I can use I greatly appreciated it.

Modifier 93 is a work comp modifier, you are correct. California law on this aspect (click me).

I did hear that effective Jan 1 2022 this modifier (93) should be used for telemed/audio only.

Hi there, the AMA did issue that modifier for audio-only encounters https://www.ama-assn.org/practice-m...io-only-modifier-93-reporting-medical-service. But adding it to a claim could trigger a denial if the payer hasn't added it to their system.
