Is it correct to use GO for OP OT services that are part of an OT treatment plan as part of behavioral health service or 96 or both? I read the CPT coding guidelines for 96 to be any habilitative service (as defined in the guidelines) not just OT and GO is specifically for OT services as part of an OT treatment plan. My facility currently uses GO for OP OT therapy.

Thanks.

Our company is an Early Intervention Center that provides Outpatient OT, PT, ST, and Mental health therapy. We have been only using GO and getting paid. We had questions about that modifier too. Since we are still getting paid with only the GO we have not instituted using the 96 and curious if this is an oversight on the insurance side. But as of today, we are getting paid.
Hope this helps and hope someone else has some insight.
