I need some clarification on which modifier to use for a surgical procedure. The gyn performed and exploratory laparoscopy then coverted to a laparotomy and found a mesenteric mass. He called general surgery in for a consult and at that point general surgery took over the case and did the removal of the mass with the gyn doing the closure.
Would I use modifier 62 -two surgeons or 80-assistant?
