One of our general surgeons performed a procedure on a pt back in May, 2021 that had a 90 global period. He was performing the service under contract at a different facility and they would have billed his services under a different NPI #/tax ID#. He has now done a 2nd procedure on the same pt in mid July, for a related problem, but at a completely different facility where I bill his services independent of the facility. Would I still append a modifier 58 to the second surgery, since it was done by the same surgeon, regardless of location?
