Good Morning, can you direct me to which modifier to use when a provider bills a 90846 and 90837 on the same day for a member? Can you also direct me to which code the modifier should be applied to (90837 or 90846)? Thank you in advance for your guidance!

I would say to use XE if the insurance is Medicare, but if insurance is not Medicare I would use 59 as long as the service is separate and distinct - I would use it on 90846 since this is family psychotherapy without the patient present.
