What modifier is need for Cpt code 01173 it for commercial billing?

Are you billing for the anesthesiologist, or for the facility charges?

I will preface this by saying that I am not an anesthesia biller, but for professional billing I'd think you'd need a modifier that indicates which type of provider administered the anesthesia (GX, GZ, AA, etc.)

I do facility billing and don't typically see modifiers on the anesthesia line items on the UB. Then again, the facility's reimbursement is generally determined by the surgical codes, and we don't typically receive any reimbursement on the anesthesia line item facility charges.

Hope someone with more expertise specific to anesthesia professional billing jumps in with additional info.
