Hi all
My clinic is a Family Practice with a side of addiction medicine.
We are debating if you can bill a 99211 for the following two scenarios (both would be monitored by a medical assistant)
#1 Patient claims they are taking medication but it does no show in their drug screens. They come in for us to watch them take the medicine and will return the next day for a monitored drug screen.
#2 Patient comes in for the sole purpose of providing a monitored urine testing. Not seen by provider. Pretty much just drops and leaves.
My doc thinks these should both be billed as a level one.
I am not convinced but I would certainly expect that there should be more documentation than "I watched so and so pee or pop a pill".
Is there a better code for this or what kind of documentation would we need to make a level one work?
