Can you charge for additional views of an MRI and if so what code would be used?
We currently bill for reconstructive views but management thinks we can bill for additional views. ex. If the patient moves around on the table and additional views need to be taken.

Most of the w and w/o contrast MRIs state "and further sections" or "and further sequences". It would be difficult to set the reimbursement rate for a MRI study based on the number of additional sequences, because each patient study has its own protocol. The number of sequences needed to fully evaluate the patient's condition, injury or disease varies and is part of the original MRI study ordered.
