Among several dx for this pregnant pt, provider lists "MRI during first trimester of pregnancy."

I found code O35.6XX0 for maternal care for (suspected) damage to fetus caused by radiation -- but on further research I find that MRI doesn't use x-rays but rather "radio waves and a powerful magnet." I also found that it has not been known to affect the fetus.

Do I code this -- and if so, what would be the correct code?

Thanks in advance!

Is this similar to a "history of" scenario or was the MRI ordered by the OB provider to check for abnormalities?

Thank you for taking a look at this. This is all I find in the note about it -- In history, "patient notes MRI of back in first trimester." And then the mention of it in the A/P.

IMO, I think you should find a "history of" code unless the provider states it's a complication. I see it as informational more than anything at this point. I don't have my book in front of me right now so I can't look it up, but there has to be something I'd think.
