Our hospitals are requesting our doctors to provide the anesthesia during an MRI. Nurses usually provide the Versed for this and I am wondering what kind of payor issues anyone has had in regards to the necessity of an anesthesologist?

We have not had any payment issues. In general, there is usually a secondary diagnosis to substantiate anesthesia attendance (i.e. mental retardation, claustrophobia, pediatric patient... and so on).
