Hi,I was hoping to obtain a fellow coders direct input with the following.
I'm currently working in a cancer center where one of the services is hepatobiliary. We perform many Liver wedge resections due to different levels of metastases. We are debating how to code these liver wedge resections appropriately to then inform the physicians when they ask why their cases are billed are certain way.
Hypothetically how would you code the following:
OP Excerpt;
"There was adherent tumor in segment 5 and 6, which we wedge resected with a clamp crushing technique dividing small vessels with the clips or with the tissuelink device for homeostasis. We then performed a wedge resection of tumor growing along the ligamentum teres into segment 3 and 4b of the liver. This was also done with a clamp crushing technique down to the base of the ligamentum teres."
We've been told that it should be coded as follows:
