My coworker and I are interested to know your thoughts on the following case. Pt has a septate uterus. She had an initial confirm u/s and is pregnant with a possible demise on one side that could be a twin. The next day she came back and saw our sonographer for additional u/s. Our sonographer chose 76816, 76817 and 76376 as her CPT codes. Would you use modifiers on any of those?

Since each of these tests were only done once on the current date of service, no modifier would be needed. If you were doing an US CPT code (twice) on each fetus (for twins) such as 76825 for an fetal echocardiogram, then you would bill one as 76825 (for twin A) and one as 76825,59 (for twin B).

Thank You! I was also able to get ahold of my aunt who is a certified hospital coder. She said the same thing so I feel confident in that answer!
