I have a scenario I'm hoping to get clarfication on. Patient is in a 90 day global from an abdominal surgery, she subsequently develops an infection. When she is taken back to surgery to drain the infection a modifier 78 is appended. When he drains it, surgeon decides he is going to bring her back again to the OR for another look operation in 48 hours. Would that surgery also need a 78 modifier or a 58? Thank you.
