Wiki Multiple Surgery Guidelines

We are having a debate within our office. Our question is in regards to multiple surgery guidelines & the order in which procedures should be submitted on claims. We are debating whether the RVU's for a procedure should be doubled for a bilateral procedure when determining the order in which claims should be submitted.

For example, Procedure A has an RVU of 15.0 & Procedure B has an RVU of 10.0. Procedure A was performed unilaterally & Procedure B was performed bilaterally. Which order should this claim be submitted:

RVU's

Procedure A 15.0

Procedure B 10.0


RVU's

Procedure B 20.0

Procedure A 15.0
