Hi All,

I've a 1 chart that states, Patient injured while driving, he struck by tree while looking at speedometer.He has Wrist & Hand contusion. So Please help as the chart coded as
E816.0 OR E815.0 Plus 923.20 only or code separate 923.20, 923.21 ?

I considered E816.0 Plus 923.20. Am I correct?

The correct coding would look like this:

923.20 (1) Contusion of the hand
923.21 (2) Contusion of the wrist
E823.0 (3) Other motor vehicle nontraffic accident involving collision with
stationary object.

It also is not incorrect to use the multiple contusion codes to combine #1 and #2. But this is more specific, which is best for insurance purposes.

Can I use 923.20 only instead of two codes?

Be'coz in Diseases of index Wrist + hand contusion is 923.20 & also in tabular list, the series is same as 923.2*.

Please revert.
