Hi community. I am reviewing a medical record for an auto insurance claim/case, and the provider billed a 95912 for the EMG and I am not sure how to determine if this is correct. I am confused on how to calculate the total number of studies.

Hello, I am not an expert. To me, there were 6 NCS studies done: bilateral Ulnar, Radial and median nerves= 95909 Nerve conduction studies; 5-6 studies. I found my notes "The CPT codes for NCS are: Motor and/or sensory nerve conduction, using preconfigured electrode array(s), amplitude and latency/velocity study, each limb, includes F-wave study when performed, with interpretation and report"

Hi Natasha- I posted a new case/ EMG the day. Would you mind taking a crack at it? No one responded. May I contact you?

Hello, I would count your example as 10 studies. 4 motor and 6 sensory. I believe the F wave studies of Lt/RT Median APB are included in the motor APB study.

Hi, Late response but I counted 10 NCS which would be coded with 95911, and then complete EMG studies (including related paraspinal areas) done on 2 limbs would be coded with the add-on code 95886.
