CPT has changed the language of 77003; the code reads, fluorscopic guidance and localization of needle or catheter tip for spine or paraspinou diagnostic or therapeutic injection procedures (epidural, transformaminal epidural, subarachnoid, or sacroiliac joint), including neurolytic agent destruction.
Then the next line states excludes codes: 62270-62282, 62310-62319, 64490-64495, 64600-64680, 27096, 73542, 64479-64484.
This exclusion contains all codes mentioned in the above description of 77003. The question I'm getting from my doctor is why do we have this code? and what are we suppose to use now for a fluoroscopy code? All of the injection codes that he does now bundle fluoroscopy.
Can anyone further explain this code to me?
