I was told there are three code for echocardiography. I came up with one code 93306.
Report states:
1. ALL CARDIAC CHAMBERS NORMALLY SIZED.
2. MILD CONCENTRIC LEFT VENTRICULAR HYPERTROPHY
3. NO PERICADIAL FLUID OR THICKENING IS NOTED.
4. NO INTRACARDIAC THROMBI.
5. NO SEPTAL DEFECTS OR ABNORMAL INTRACARDIAC SHUNTING.
6. STRUCTURALLY NORMAL MITRAL AND TRICUSPID LEAFLETS ETC.
7. AORTIC ROOT NORMAL CALIBER PROXIMALLY.CALCIFICATION AND LIMITED MOTION OF AT LEASTTHE NONCORONARY CUSP IS SEEN FROM LIMITED VIEW. A PEAK LEAFT BENTRICULAR OUTFLOW TRACT GRADIENT OF 13MM MERCURY IS NOTED WITH TRIVIAL AORTIC INSUFFICIENCY BY COLOR FLOW DOPPLER.
8. PULMONARY ARTERY PRESSURE BY CONTINUOUS WAVE DOPPLER IS NORMAL.
9. COLOR FLOW DOPPER REVEALS NO DIAGNOSTIC ABNORMALITIES.

Can someone help me.

Thank you

Echocardiography used to have three codes associated with it: 93307; 93320; 93325, however this changed in 2009; you are correct, it is now 93306

To capture 93306 - the report must include the four chambers (left/right atria; left/right ventricles and the valves, otherwise, it is limited 93308.

Also, since Spectral and color-flow can identify the same things, it is suggested the physician document "color-flow" within this finding to support 93325-26. (Nevermind I see he/she is doing that)

Assuming he/she did all that, I would say 93306 (if in hospital with 26) and dx 429.3 & 424.1
