I am new in coding field. My physician used v65.40 counseling code for 17 years old patient. the patient has no other diagnosis. the claim denied because the insurance wants specific illness, injury or diagnosis code. Can someone help me with this please.

The patient may not have coverage for this counseling, But this a NOS code perhaps the documentation can be specific as to exactly what kind of counseling and a more specific counseling code can be used. However that does not guarantee that the payer will pay for counseling.
