I am having trouble finding a procedure the doctor performed in the Emergency Room.
Patient had blisters around and on top of previous operation inscision site. The doctor in his notes "Patient has multiple blisters and the blisters were evacuated and cleaned with peroxide and Betadine then dressed with a 4x4. I can not find what cpt code to use since all of the cpt codes state and inscision was made and that is not what was done it was only cleansed. Not even sure I can bill for it either or just to bill for the ER visit.

Help Please!

I am sure that you would only be able to bill for the E/M and that would also cover the cleansing of the wound. Be sure and check the global for the surgery and if a modifier might be needed.
good luck.

Look into would dehiscence otherwise it is p

Wound dehiscence is a surgical complication in which a wound breaks open along surgical suture. Risk factors are age, diabetes, obesity, poor knotting or grabbing of stitches, and trauma to the wound after surgery.[1]

This case does not sound like wound dehiscence to me (just my opinion). I don't think you could use an I&D code either. I think that as long as the patient was not in the global period, I would just bill an E/M.

I agree with the E/M capturing the service if not in the global period. The documentation doesn't support a wound dehiscence, debridement or closure.
