I am doing some practice. My scenario is acute respiratory failure secondary to ANSMI. For some reason I am not able to figure out what that stands for. Possibly I have spent far too long doing this today? I can break it up for ANS OR MI..but somehow I dont think that is right!

Help!!

Need help with an abbreviated diagnosis

ANSMI is an anti thrombotic drug however I do not know what the actual name is - it is under the category of cardiovascular drugs.

I am not sure how this plays out with your scenario but if the patient has a history of cardiovascular disease this may be what it represents.

I'd like to offer my two cents on what ANSMI could possibly be. How about something like anteroseptal myocardial infarction? If that is what you thought it was then you probably was on the right track when you broke it up.

I thought maybe I was crazy thinking that. When the reply posted about thrombosis then I had to consider the MI part! Your answers have helped alot!! Thank you!!
