I have a pt. who came in for a delivery, she had a positive vaginal culture that grew MRSA. Any suggestions how to code it, the MD only said Vaginal Culture grew MRSA.
 
To code positive MRSA culture, you would use V02.54. Only if stated as MRSA infection do we use 041.12, as the 041 code range states "Bacterial infection in conditions classified elsewhere and of unspecified site".

At least, this has always been my understanding. If anyone knows this to be wrong, please correct me. Hope this helps! :D
