Dx: Lumbar Radiculopathy.
PROCEDURE: MIDLINE LUMBAR EPIDURAL STEROID INJECTION
ANESTHESIA: IV sedation.
OPERATION: The patient was explained the risks, benefits, and alternatives to the procedure and written consent was taken from her. She was taken to the Operating Room by anesthesia and placed in the prone position on the operating table. The standard Operating Room monitors were placed and intravenous sedation was given by anesthesia. Lumbar epidural space between L3 and L4 was identified under fluoroscopy. The skin wheel was made in the interlaminar space of L3-L4, and the skin was anesthetized with 3 cc of 1% lidocaine. Then, #18-gauge epidural Tuohy needle was introduced and advanced under direct fluoroscopic guidance. Epidural space was identified by loss of resistance, and it was confirmed by 2 cc of the contrast medium, Omnipaque. After repeated aspiration, 80 mg of triamcinolone and 6 cc of 0.25% bupivacaine was injected in the epidural space without complication. The patient was taken to the Recovery Room in stable condition.
